Meeting with Councilman Andrew J. Lewis
I recently got the privilege to be one of a few people representing the constituency of Seattle in a meeting with our local city council member! The group mostly talked about the importance of conservation efforts for birds in the Seattle area, especially considering a growing number of cities are instituting measures like rodenticide bans and lights out weeks to protect birds and Seattle - despite branding itself as a green city - is falling behind. I got to talk a few times about how much the natural world means to me and how I got into birding, as an example of how young people are interested in conservation as well, which was really cool.
